Threaded cores are precision-molded components used to form true internal threads in injection-molded parts. Unlike standard cores, a threaded core must maintain accurate thread geometry while working with an unscrewing or rotary demolding mechanism to release the molded part without damaging the threads.
Our threaded core (threaded core pin / threaded core insert) components are custom-manufactured to customer drawings with strict control of thread profile, concentricity to the rotation axis, fit interfaces, and surface finish. For high-volume molds, consistent thread quality is essential to avoid assembly issues such as cross-threading, torque variation, leakage, or capping/closing failures.
A threaded core is the forming element that creates the thread inside (or sometimes outside) a molded part. In most cases, threaded cores operate as part of an unscrewing system, where the core rotates during ejection to demold the threaded feature cleanly.
Depending on the mold design, a threaded core may include:
Threaded cores are often produced from tool steels selected for wear resistance and dimensional stability under repeated cycles. Heat treatment and optional surface treatments/coatings may be specified based on:
Threaded cores are used in injection molds for parts that require true thread demolding, including:
(Exact end products vary by customer design; we focus on the mold function and threaded feature requirement.)
Threaded cores require both forming precision and mechanical alignment precision. We control the parameters that directly affect molding results and unscrewing stability.
More reliable assembly and consistent torque
Accurate thread geometry reduces cross-threading risk and stabilizes torque performance in automated assembly lines.
Fewer rejects and less downtime
Stable runout control and good surface finish help prevent thread damage, sticking, and unscrewing mechanism issues.
Longer service life under repeated rotation
Correct material selection, heat treatment, and wear-zone finishing reduce wear and maintain thread quality over long runs.
Faster maintenance with interchangeable spares
Replaceable threaded cores allow quick replacement without major mold rework, supporting predictable maintenance schedules.
To quote threaded cores accurately, please provide:
If this is a replacement part, providing the mating interface dimensions (rotation datums, drive seat, locating shoulders) helps ensure drop-in compatibility.
Many thread designs cannot be stripped from a straight core without damaging the thread. An unscrewing core rotates to demold the threaded feature cleanly.
Common causes include thread profile deviation, runout relative to the rotation axis, poor surface finish, wear, or misalignment in the unscrewing mechanism.
Yes. We can manufacture matched sets with controlled cavity-to-cavity consistency and provide inspection data for key thread and datum features.
Yes. We manufacture to your drawing, including the drive and locating interface features required by the unscrewing system.
Yes. Inspection reports and material/heat treatment certificates are available upon request.
Send your drawings and specify the thread requirements, rotation datums, and drive-interface features. Our engineers will review manufacturability and provide a production plan to ensure stable unscrewing performance and thread consistency.
