What Is Core Insert Molding
Core Insert Molding (or "Core Insert Moulding") is the process of molding plastic around a core insert that is placed into the injection mold. This core insert is typically a metal component but may also be made of plastic.
The core insert is placed into the mold using one of two methods:
- Robotic insert loading
- Manual loading
Both methods use fixtures to position the core insert, ensuring accurate placement.
Since gravity aids in the core insert molding process, vertical injection molding presses are often utilized. However, horizontal injection molding presses may also be used.
