Unlike overmolding's two-step process, core insert molding is completed in one operation. The threaded core insert, bushing, sleeve, or boss is manually placed into the mold, plastic flows, and the part is ejected. This results in improved part strength and reliability.

Additional benefits include product weight reduction when plastic parts with metal inserts replace all-metal components, and overall part costs are frequently lower than those requiring assembly area processing.
