Mold Core Plate Overview
Mold design requires comprehensive components including back plates for cavity and core sides, ejector plates, retaining plates, guiding pillars, spacer blocks, mold cavity plates, and mold core plates.
Mold design is a complex and critical aspect of the injection molding process. Designers must consider numerous factors beyond the mold's shape, including warpage, shrinkage, venting, residual stress, and runner sizing. The complete mold assembly features steel construction with components that secure to the injection machine's movable platen.
The back plate design typically measures 156mm x 156mm with a 17mm depth. Ejector plates provide support for pins set into the ejector retaining plate, while retaining plates secure ejector pins. Spacer blocks create travel space for ejector components, and support plates enhance structural rigidity.
The mold core plate holds the core element, which mates with the cavity where plastic material is formed. Clamping plates (back plates for the core) secure the stationary side of the mold to the injection machine.
