For optimal performance, core pins with small diameter cooling channels are manufactured from premium round stock and heat treated to 48-52HRC prior to finishing. Best design practices include manufacturing cooling channels to within 10mm of the core pin tip and planning for the largest possible diameter cooling channel with the thinnest wall section to efficiently move heat away from critical areas.
